Evon M. Willman, 83, of Minden, formerly of Bertrand, passed away on Thursday, November 8, 2018 at Bethany Home in Minden. Memorial services will be held at the Bethany Home Chapel at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, November 16, 2018 with the Rev. Lige Reed officiating. Interment will be held at a later date in the Keene Cemetery. There will be no visitation as the family is honoring Evon's wish to have her body donated to science for the advancement of medical research. Craig Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Evon was born on September 4, 1935 at her family's home in Hildreth to Enoch C. and Wilhemina "Minnie" F. (Albers) Wittfoth. She grew up in the Hildreth area and graduated from Axtell High School. She later attended Kearney State College where she earned her Bachelors and Masters of Science degrees with an emphasis in special education and developmental disabilities.
Evon was united in marriage to John A. Willman in Axtell and to this union, three children were born: Monica, Brent and Amy. The family made their home in Axtell, York, Bertrand, Holdrege and Minden where Evon enjoyed teaching at many schools. She also helped with the family farming operation.
She was a member of the Axtell Presbyterian Church, York Methodist, Bertrand Lutheran and Holdrege Lutheran churches. Evon especially enjoyed spending time with her family.
Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Brent Willman and wife Tess of Lincoln; daughters, Monica Daake and husband Rod of Fort Worth, TX and Amy Lyons and husband Kevin of Lincoln; 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Ruth Smith of Mechanicsburg, PA, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Evon was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John; sisters, Arlene Bergstrom, Lucille Roos, Marcia Gewecke and her brother, Carl Wittfoth.
Memorials in Evon's honor are kindly suggested to the family for later designation.
