Obituary

Gary Don Hutcheson was born on August 6, 1951 in Bassett NE to Bonnie and Don Hutcheson. He died from complications of Covid in the Kearney Good Samaritan ICU on December 12, 2020.

Gary attended Long Pine Grade School and later graduated from Ainsworth High School in 1969. The same year, he married his grade school sweetheart Joyce Luehrs. To this union, two children were born- Michelle and Luke.

Moving to Glenrock Wyoming, he began his career as a laborer building coal fired power plants. For 19 years, he moved with his family to several locations and states, earning his way to being a vested union Boilermaker out of Denver Local 101. They returned to Long Pine in 1983 to be close to extended family and to finish their forever home on Pine Creek. He established a new career that he loved, an excavation business. This allowed him to meet many people and in turn make many friends.

After a serious accident in 2001, his life was changed. He overcame his disability with great strength and determination which earned him the Madonna Chariman's GOAL Award. Gary continued his excavation business with modifications to his machinery and enjoyed going back to work.

Gary's greatest love was his family and friends who became family. He loved to visit in his shop, work on projects, tell stories, tease and be teased. He was creative; he had a talent to see possibilities in land development and to make dreams happen.

He will be missed beyond measure by his wife of 51 years, Joyce; his children Michelle (Tim) Sinsel of Ainsworth, and Luke (Jenny) Hutcheson of Canistota, SD. He leaves cherished memories to seven grandchildren, brothers Allan, Lonn, and Mark, and a multitude of family and friends.

There will be a private interment at Long Pine's Grand View Cemetery, and a celebration of his life when it is safe to do so. Craig Funeral Home in Minden is assisting the family.
