John C. Blomquist, 63, of Axtell, passed away on Tuesday, August 21, 2018 at Bryan Medical Center - West Campus in Lincoln. Celebration of life services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 6, 2018 at Zion Chapel at Mosaic in Axtell with Rev. John Gosswein officiating. Private family inurnment will be held at a later date at the Blue Hill Cemetery. There will be no visitation as the family is honoring John's wish to be cremated. Memorials are suggested to Mosaic at Bethphage in Axtell. Craig Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
John was born on August 30, 1954 in Ainsworth, NE to Charles E. and Edith H. (Wormuth) Blomquist. He resided in Beatrice and later moved to Mosaic in Axtell in 1996.
John had many close friends in the Minden and Axtell area. He especially liked to hold hands and listen to music. He enjoyed working and helping with various tasks and touched the hearts of many people.
Those left to celebrate his life include his guardian, Mary Jurgens of Minden and her children, Shawntel, Carmen, Jose, Tirzo and Sarah; brother, Herbert Blomquist of Waco, TX; several aunts and uncles, as well as numerous close friends at Mosaic.
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents and his guardian, Neil Jurgens.
