Kay F. Kershner, 79, of Hildreth passed away on Friday, March 16, 2018 at the Franklin Care and Rehabilitation Center. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Hildreth with the Revs. Patti and Steve Byrne officiating. Private family inurnment will be held prior to services at the St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery near Hildreth. There will be no visitation. Craig Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Kay was born on October 11, 1938 in Franklin to Earl and Elva (Strayer) Hughes. She graduated from Franklin High School with the class of 1956. On February 3, 1957, she was united in marriage to Alden Bunger. To this union, a son, Alan, and a daughter, Dana was born. After 20 years, Alden passed away suddenly in June of 1977.
In August of 1979, Kay was united in marriage to Marvin Albers. On October 20, 2000, Kay was united in marriage to Gordon Kershner.
Kay worked as an aide at Hildreth High School and later worked at the Hildreth Farmer's Cooperative until retiring in July of 1999.
Surviving relatives include her son, Alan Bunger of Hildreth; daughter, Dana and husband Rolf Bebensee of Hildreth; grandchildren, Matt and wife Jenni Bebensee of Kearney, Todd Bebensee of Hildreth, Brett and wife Ashley Bebensee of Holdrege; one great-grandson, Oliver Bebensee of Holdrege; brother, Richard and wife Sharon Hughes of Kansas City, KS; sisters, Erla and husband Sid Bradshaw of Grand Island, Margaret and husband Charles Clark of Lake Havasu City, AZ as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
Kay was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, two brothers and five sisters.
Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation.
