Kevin "Trog" Ericson, 62, of Axtell, passed away on Thursday, May 6, 2021 at his home. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 13, 2021 at Bethany Lutheran Church, south of Axtell, with the Rev. Marcia Dorn officiating. It is Trog's request that casual attire be worn. The service will be live streamed to the funeral home's Facebook page. Inurnment will be held following services at the Bethany Lutheran Church Cemetery. There will be no visitation as the family has honored Kevin's wish for cremation. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Kevin's honor are kindly suggested to the Axtell Community Fund or to the Axtell Volunteer Fire Department. Craig Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Kevin "Trog" Ericson was born on February 14, 1959 in Omaha and was adopted by Knowlen and Harriette (Bloom) Ericson. He grew up in the Axtell area and graduated with the Axtell High School class of 1977. Kevin later attended Central Community College in Hastings and earned a degree in Ag Business. Following college he returned to Axtell and was employed by Ericson Farms, Inc.
He was a dedicated member of the Patriot Guard Riders, Axtell Volunteer Fire Department and the Axtell Rural Fire Board. Kevin served Axtell Fire as an EMT, Assistant Unit Captain and Assistant Fire Chief, volunteering his time for 20 years. Trog would help anyone in need and never met a stranger.
Trog loved music; he worked as a DJ for many years and spun many records in his day. He also enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson, traveling in his motorhome, spending time with family, watching NASCAR, and helping his young family members find their love of farming.
Those left to cherish his memory include: his son, Gavan (Summer) Ericson of Axtell; step-son, Brent Bishop of Kearney; step-daughter, Teresa Morgan of Kearney; mother, Harriette Ericson of Kearney; "grand-dog", Kaiser; brother, Brad (Anna) Ericson of Kearney; niece, Ashley Ericson of Houston, TX; great-niece, Madison Traylor of Houston, TX; as well as a host of extended relatives and many close friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Knowlen Ericson; grandparents, Archie and Medora Bloom, and Emil and Verna Ericson.
