She attended the Hastings College of Beauty, graduating in 1959, and worked for Rose Generaux at the Ideal Beauty Salon in Minden.
LaVon was united in marriage to Clark Abrahamson on December 15, 1962 at Bethany Lutheran Church. The couple was blessed with two children: Jennifer and Jon. The family lived on their farm southeast of Axtell. LaVon liked to call herself "a domesticated engineer" as she helped Clark with the farming. She was proudly the "head gofer" for parts, fed the hired men, and was the main combine driver for many years, all while raising her children.
LaVon was active in the Domesticated Debs Extension Club, acted with the Minden Community Players in many performances, church circle, and volunteering at the Minden Opera House. She was well known for her rye bread and Danish Christmas braids. LaVon enjoyed her many years spent being Mrs. Claus with her husband being Santa. She also enjoyed watching her grandkids and playing Some-R-Set.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Clark; children, Jennifer (Rick) Boruch, and Jon (Kathy) Abrahamson; grandchildren, Ali (Joel) Latter, Trevor Boruch, and Wyatt Abrahamson; great-grandchildren, Bennet, and Boe; sister, Denise Schreiber; brother-in-law, Gordon Muller; sister-in-law, Cheryl Coyle; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, extended relatives, and close friends.
