Roberta E. Scheidies, 85 years of age of Minden Nebraska passed away Thursday, April 14, 2016 at Long Term Care in Minden. Funeral services will be on Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Minden with Rev. Christopher Hazzard officiating. Burial will be in the Minden Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Layton-Craig Funeral Home in Minden on Monday from 4-6 p.m.

She was born April 30, 1930 in St. Libory Nebraska to William and Martha (Leuthaueser) Meyer. She attended the Worms Lutheran Church grade school and graduated from Grand Island Senior High.

On October 12, 1951 she was married to LaVern Scheidies. They first lived in
Lowell, moved to Gibbon, and then to the Scheidies family farm west of Lowell in 1963. LaVern and Roberta retired and moved into Minden in 1996. Roberta moved to the Long Term Care in 2013.

Roberta helped with the family farming operation and various other business activities – sweet corn, seed corn sales, bookkeeping, clerking auctions, hay baling.

She was active in the various Lutheran Churches she was a member of throughout her life – Sunday school teacher, and LWML. Memorials are suggested to the Lutheran Family Services or the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Minden

She is survived by her husband LaVern, children Keith (Carolyn), Mark (Jennifer), Randy (Nancy), Rhonda McCarthy, and Tim (Lisa); grandchildren Chris, Cassie, Tiffany, Crystal, Nick, Whitney, Anne, and Sara, and great-grandchildren Devon, Dane, Tori, Colton, Josh, and Aniah. and sister in-law, Irene Meyer. Roberta was preceded in death by her parents, brothers and sister in-law Harvey and Harold (Delores) and sister Carol and granddaughter Nicole.
