Sherilynn E. Malcom, 85, of Minden, passed away on Thursday, August 16, 2018 at Bethany Home in Minden. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Minden with the Rev. Donald Hunzeker officiating. Interment will be held following services at the Minden Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 21, 2018 at the Craig Funeral Home in Minden. Memorials are suggested to Bethany Home or to Bethany Lutheran Church in Minden. Craig Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Sherilynn Elaine Malcom was born on May 3, 1933 at the Darr View Farm near Darr, Nebraska to Harold and Ruth (Good) Foged. She grew up in the Darr area and graduated from Cozad High School.
On December 28, 1949, she was united in marriage to Richard L. Malcom at the family's Darr View Farm. The couple made their home in the Dawson County area until moving to Minden in 1960.
Sherilynn was a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church in Minden as well as the Minden Garden Club. She was very creative and enjoyed spending time with friends and family. She enjoyed playing Bridge and was very active in her church. Sherilynn volunteered for many years at the Minden Opera House and the Kearney County Museum. She was a past president of the Kearney County Historical Society. Sherilynn and Richard enjoyed spending many winters in Mesa, AZ.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Richard Malcom of Minden; daughters, Patricia Brockmeier and husband Bruce of Eustis, NE, Cynthia Gould and husband Michael of Host Springs SD, and Cheryl Clark of Mesa, AZ; 10 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, step-father, Henry Piester; sons, Clifton and Bradley Malcom and one brother, Dennis Foged.
