C. Richard Hite, 82, of Alma, passed away on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, at his home. Private family services will be held at a later date. Memorials in Rich's honor are kindly suggested to the family for later designation. Craig Funeral Home in Minden is assisting the family.
Richard was born on June 7, 1943, at home in Speed, Kansas, to Alton and Lorena (Brunson) Hite. He grew up in Natoma and Norton Kansas, graduating from Norton High School. He held several jobs throughout his life. He began working in the oil fields, later became a Deputy Sheriff at Grand Island, earned a drug and alcohol counseling degree and worked in that field in Lexington.
He was united in marriage to Renne I. Cue on December 15, 2021 in Rogers, Arkansas. The couple resided in Alma where he owned and operated The Sports Shack for many years, specializing in the sale of hunting and fishing equipment.
Richard was known by many throughout the state. He organized five yearly gun shows drawing the attendance of many firearms enthusiasts. He was a professional guitarist and singer, playing with several professional groups and having memorized over 3,000 songs.
His hobbies included collecting full size and miniature guns, his most prized in the collection being that of a complete Lone Ranger pistol set. The hobby he loved most of all was providing for and making Renne happy each day.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Monte Hite, and brother, Timothy Pfortmiller.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Renne of Alma; children, Annette (Terry) Furby of Kearney; Shayne (Penny) Hite of Grant; and Loreva Hite of North Platte; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; siblings, Yolanda (Randy) Moll, Matthew Pfortmiller, and Phillip Pfortmiller; along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended relatives and close friends.
