Carolyn Marian (Sanders) Bauer, 85, of Hildreth, loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister passed away peacefully on Mothers Day, May 13, 2018 surrounded by her family. Celebration of life services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, May 18, 2018 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Hildreth with the Revs. Steve and Patti Byrne officiating. Interment will be held following services at the St. Peter’s Lutheran Cemetery near Hildreth. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 17, 2018 at the Craig Funeral Home – Jelden Chapel in Hildreth. Carolyn was born July 12, 1932 near Hildreth at the family farm to Henry and Minnie (Quadhamer) Sanders. She was baptized and confirmed at Emmanuel Lutheran Church. Carolyn attended country school and graduated from Hildreth High School in 1950. On Oct. 29, 1950 she was united in marriage to Carl Bauer at Emmanuel Lutheran and later joined St. Peters Lutheran. They were married 48 years until his death in 1998. Seven children blessed their life & home, Charlene, Clarice, Cynthia, Craig, Crale, Curtis and Clark. She taught her family the value of life, caring and hard work. She was a very devoted farm wife and mother. Carolyn’s deep rooted faith in the Lord never waivered, even as her health declined. Carolyn was active in her church, taught Sunday and Bible school and sang in the choir. Currently a member of Trinity, she served in the Women’s group and altar guild. She was a 4-H leader and a VFW Auxiliary member. Carolyn decorated cakes for many in the community and enjoyed playing the piano. She was employed as a cook at Hildreth Public School and assisted at Bauer Repair in later years. Survivors include her children, Charlene (Steve) Christensen, of Holdrege, Clarice (Sam) Sharpe of Lincoln, Cynthia (Gary) Hastings, of Kearney, Crale (Jill) Bauer and Curtis (Katrina) Bauer both of Hildreth, and Clark (Jennifer) Bauer, of Gibbon; 9 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren, brothers Gary (Marlene) Sanders and Leon (Barbara) Sanders; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Carl, son Craig, granddaughter Rikki and grandson Aaron. Carolyn was always caring, kind, generous, humble and very unselfish. She touched the lives of many with her ability to always stay positive, wherever she went. Her great smile and kind heart lifted many souls. She was a rock to her family, always listening to their needs whether in joy or sorrow or just needed a shoulder to lean on. She loved her family and took great joy in her grandchildren and great grand children. She was very much loved and will be deeply missed. Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation.
