He attended school in Blue Hill and graduated from Blue Hill Senior High. At a young age, Rodger was diagnosed with Polio. This presented him with challenges at times, but he was a strong fighter and persevered. Rodger lived in the Hastings area for several years before moving to Oxford in 1989, where he worked as an auto-body repair technician. Rodger was an avid fisherman and loved hunting pheasants, quail and deer. When he wasn’t outdoors, you could find him playing board games with his children and grandchildren or teaching his family the art of playing pool. Those that knew Rodger, knew him for his ability to love life and have fun. Often time’s he would express his trademark “giggle”. He loved to swing dance to oldies rock-n-roll, especially Elvis. Rodger was a member of the Oxford Volunteer Fire Department for many years where he served his community as a Firefighter and EMT. Those left to cherish his memory include his daughters, Melanie Grossnicklaus and husband Bill and Jeanna Reusink and husband Rob; his sons, Anthony Maeser and wife Kelly and Daren Malesker and wife Laura; grandchildren, Ashley, Skyler and Carson Grossnicklaus, Brenna Reusink, Trenton Reusink and Aaliyah Mayorga, Jackson, Grace and Tessa Maeser and Shyla Malesker; one great-grandson, Max Reusink; brothers, Darryl, David, Dennis, Bobby and Dale; sisters, Marilee and Kathy; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
