Barbara F. Jelkin, 80, of Bellevue, formerly of Hildreth, peacefully passed from this Earth on Thursday, May 3, 2018 at her home in Bellevue. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, May 7, 2018 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Hildreth with the Revs. Steve and Patti Byrne officiating. Interment will be held following services at the Hildreth Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service times at the church. Craig Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Barb was born on February 27, 1938 in Roanoke, VA to Henry R. and Adriana (Grant) Furches. She was united in marriage at age 17 to Melvin E. Jelkin on February 27, 1955. Barb traveled the world as an Air Force wife for 27 years.
As a former beautician, home-maker, and wonderful cook with a gift for gab, Barb will be missed dearly by her friends and family.
Barb is survived by three children, Mel (Diane) Jelkin Jr., Debbie (Kirk) Sharp, Bill (Kathy) Jelkin; seven grandchildren, Sarah Goldsberry, Leslie Zook, Ryan Sharp, Nathan Sharp, Stacie Sharp, Jaxon Jelkin, and Jacen Jelkin; and ten Great-Grandchildren, as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by husband Melvin E. Jelkin and daughter Sheryl A. Herrick.
Memorials are suggested to the Hildreth Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department.
