Barbara J. King, 75, of Kearney, formerly of Minden, passed away on Sunday, April 7, 2024 at Kearney Regional Medical Center – Bryan Health. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, April 12, 2024 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Minden with Rev. Donald Hunzeker and PMA Julie Schmidt officiating. The service will be streamed to the Bethany Lutheran Church – Minden, NE YouTube page. Private family inurnment will be held following the service at the Norman Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Memorials in Barb's honor are kindly suggested to the family for later designation. Arrangements are under the care of Craig Funeral Home in Minden.

Barbara J. King was born on June 11, 1948 in Kearney to Ernest S. and Etta C. (Kersting) Stone. She grew up in the Odessa and Elm Creek area, attending Elm Creek High School.

She was united in marriage to John "Bob" R. King on January 23, 1966 in Norman and to this union, three sons were born: John, Scott and Jobey. The family made their home in Norman before moving to Minden in 2005. Barb operated the Minden Terminal Café, then began working at Bethphage Mission. She later worked as a cook for the Minden Senior Center until her retirement in January of 2017.

Barb was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Minden where she helped serve funeral dinners for many years. She enjoyed spending time with family, taking trips to Las Vegas and Omaha, crafting, scrapbooking, making jewelry, attending craft shows, and playing cards, especially pitch. Barb enjoyed helping others and was a true friend to many.

Those left to cherish her memory include her sons, John King of Minden, Scott King of Colby, KS, and Jobey (Leslie) King of Littleton, CO; granddaughters, Amanda (Justin) Clark, Laurie (Charles) Cosper, Heather (Tyler) Spurlin, Kristen (Breck) Arnberger, Braeley (Logan) Hammeke, Maryn King, Kayla King, and Nora King; great-grandchildren, Braden, Bryleigh, Aidrich, Quintin, Emma, Charlotte, and Caroline; brothers, Sam (Alyce) Stone of Kearney and Jim Stone of Lexington; sisters-in-law, Mae (Bill) Smith of Elwood, Marilyn Dolloff of Kennsett, IA, Ann Walter (Del Wattjes) of Raymond, NE; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John "Bob" King; parents, Ernest and Etta Stone; parents-in-law, John and Elsie King; sister, Connie (Glen) Bray; brothers-in-law, Billy (Joyce) King, and Wesley King; sisters-in-law, Cathy Stone and Lenora (Jim) Gentert.
