Charles Andrew "Andy" Tomsen was born on May 30, 1959, in Rapid City, SD to Charles "Chuck" K. and Nancy A. (Draper) Tomsen. In 1964, his family moved to Minden, where he graduated from Minden High School with the class of 1977. Andy attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture in 1981. He was one of five graduates who received "Highest Distinction" in the graduating class.

He was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Jana D. Jensen, on May 23, 1981, in Cozad. They lived an exciting young life where Andy worked for Cargill and Jana taught elementary school. Andy's job took them to many wonderful places where their firstborn, Nicholas, was born in Lafayette, IN, Jessica came shortly following in Denver, CO, and Sarah was born, not far behind, in Portland, OR. Andy made a quick decision to return to the family farm in 1990. He passionately farmed with his family and the Tomsen's made Minden their home.

Andy was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Minden, the KAAPA Ethanol Board of Directors, Delta-Tau-Delta fraternity, a past president and member of Minden Public School Board, and an avid blood donor. Family trips were his favorite, especially to Hawaii with his grandchildren. Andy loved playing and mastering the ukulele and Jana was privy to concerts most evenings. He was a private person, but Lot 7 at a tailgate for the Huskers was where he came out of his shell.

He will be fondly remembered as a faithful, humble, gentle, and steadfast man. His legacy is cherished and celebrated through the wisdom that he has shared with so many, especially his family. Andy lived out his faith and deeply loved the Lord.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Jana; children, Nicholas (Michaela) Tomsen, and their children, Moriah, Charles "Charlie", Daniel, (and a baby boy on the way) from Wichita, KS; Jessica (Dustin) Shoff and their children, Draper and Dru of Minden; and Sarah (Adam) Rasmussen and their children, Lena, Margaret and Theodore "Teddy" of Lincoln; mother, Nancy Tomsen of Minden; sister, Molly (Steve) Anderson of Minden; brothers-in-law, Monte (Debe) Jensen and Lane (Bonnie) Jensen; sister-in-law, Becky (Zen) Farion; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, extended relatives, and close friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charles "Chuck" K. Tomsen, and parents-in-law, George and Darlene Jensen.
