Dale A. Hunt, 77, of Minden, passed away on Thursday, August 8, 2024 at Kearney County Health Services in Minden. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, August 16, 2024 at Minden Evangelical Free Church with Pastor Tom Barnes and Pastor Jacob Werner officiating. Inurnment will be held following the service at the Minden Cemetery, with military honors presented by the Minden American Legion, Heartwell Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the United States Navy Funeral Honors Team. A memorial book signing will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 15, 2024 at Craig Funeral Home in Minden. Memorials in Dale's honor are kindly suggested to the Minden Evangelical Free Missions. Arrangements are under the care of Craig Funeral Home in Minden.
Dale Arden Hunt was born on January 15, 1947 in Holdrege to Melvin "Mike" R. and Phyllis A. (Delimont) Hunt. He grew up in the rural Furnas County and Holdrege area, and attended school at Holdrege Public Schools, graduating with the class of 1965. Dale entered the United States Navy where he faithfully served from June of 1965 to March of 1988. Dale retired at the rank of Master Chief after serving for 23 years.
He was united in marriage to Betty Smith in February of 1969 in Lexa, AR and to this union two children were born: Michael and Stacy. The couple later divorced. On January 7, 1994, Dale was united in marriage to Edna K. Hadley. The couple made their home in Minden.
Dale was a faithful man finding a church family everywhere he lived, Big Creek Baptist Church in Millington, TN, Ramona Baptist Church in Jacksonville, FL, Holdrege Evangelical Free Church, and most recently Minden Evangelical Free Church.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Edna; son, Michael Hunt (Gina) of St. Joseph, MO; daughter, Stacy Werner (Steve) of Minden; step-daughters, Peggy Babcock and Terri Rockemann; 8 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; mother, Phyllis Johnson; brother, Brian (Kris) Johnson;brother-in-law, Charles (Cindy) Hadley; sisters-in-law, Julia (JayDee) Daffer and Maryann Hadley; as well as a host of extended relatives and close friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Melvin Hunt, and stepfather, Lamont Johnson.
