Dale K. Loschen, 91, of rural Hildreth, passed away on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at Kearney Regional Medical Center – Bryan Health. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, July 27, 2026, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hildreth with Rev. Caroline Schenk officiating. The service will be streamed to the church’s YouTube page at www.youtube.com/@trinitylutheran6214. Inurnment will be held following the service at the Hildreth Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Memorials in Dale’s honor are kindly suggested to the Hildreth Volunteer Fire Department or to the donor’s choice. Arrangements are under the care of Craig Funeral Home in Minden.

Dale was born on December 8, 1934, at Brewster Hospital in Holdrege, the only child to Wert and Emma E. (Schnuerle) Loschen. When he was born, the outlet of his stomach was closed (Pyloric Stonosis) and at 6 weeks old, Dr. Brewster corrected this complication, with Dale being the youngest child he had operated on. He was baptized at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church by Rev. Stolz and confirmed by Rev. Trost. He was a dedicated member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, and later Trinity Lutheran church following the merger.

They lived two and a half miles from Hildreth. In 1940, the family moved a half mile west where they lived for the largest portion of his life. Dale attended District 56 school until it closed. He graduated from Hildreth High School in 1953. He decided not to attend college and began farming with his Father.

Due to dry weather, they installed their first well in the fall of 1954. They began irrigating with ditch and tubes followed by gated pipe, and later pivots.

In 1957, Dale joined the Nebraska National Guard, and did basic training at Ft. Leonard Wood, MO. He also spent time at Aberdeen Proving Grounds in Maryland.

Dale married the love of his life, Lidija A. Volskis, on June 1, 1958, in Minden. They were blessed with three children: Jeffrey, Gregory, and Lisa.

Farming was his life. He raised yellow corn, white corn, wax corn, popcorn, soybeans, sorghum, and Nebraska Certified Milo and Wheat seed. He farmed with his father and then with his two boys until retirement. He also took great pride in his cattle heard and enjoyed drives to the pasture to check on them.

As busy as he was, Dale still found time to serve in many civic capacities including church council, school board, co-op board, Franklin Public Power District, Southern Public Power District, and was a County Supervisor for Franklin County for 25 years. In 2004, Dale was inducted to the Jolly Time Popcorn Hall of Fame for his outstanding production of popcorn for their company. He was also a member of the Hildreth Lions Club where he served in many local offices including Zoning Chairman and Deputy District Governor.

Above all else, Dale enjoyed spending time with those he loved most - his family.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Lidija Loschen; children, Jeffrey (Carol) Loschen, Gregory (Pam Joy) Loschen, and Lisa (Lance Converse) La Luna; grandchildren, Kristen (Jerad) Reimers, Randi (Marcus) VanEperen, Levi (Kasey) Loschen, Clint (Jennifer) Einspahr, and Elizabeth (Dan) Burki; 11 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Marti (Phil) Harsh; brothers-in-law, Willie (Connie) Volskis, and Billie Volskis; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, extended relatives and close friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter-in-law, Teresa Loschen; brother-in-law, Karl Volskis; and parents-in-law, Kristaps and Olga Volskis.
