Donna (Leibhart) Tubbs passed away peacefully on May 28, 2026, at Kearney Prairie View Gardens with her family by her side. Donna was born April 17, 1943, in Callaway, Nebraska, to Percy and Mabel (Adams) Leibhart. She graduated from Broken Bow High School in 1961. Donna married the love of her life, Jack Tubbs, in Broken Bow, Nebraska, on June 15, 1962. They were blessed with two children, Jackie and Greg. Jack’s career led them to move to several Nebraska communities and spend five years in Chicago, Illinois, before retiring to North Platte, Nebraska. Donna worked as a Special Education Para-Educator in North Platte. They moved to Kearney in 2007.

When her children were growing up, Donna was a Girl Scout leader and church youth leader for many years. After raising her children, she graduated from Elmhurst College near Chicago, Illinois with her degree in Special Education. During their retirement, Jack and Donna spent winters in their camper in Arkansas, Texas and Arizona where they made many friends and attended numerous bluegrass festivals.

Donna enjoyed studying the Bible, reading, and music, especially Jack’s singing and watching him play in various bands over the years. On several occasions she joined him on stage to sing a duet or two. She was a woman of strong Christian faith. A prayer warrior who prayed unceasingly for her family and friends. Her greatest life joys were marrying Jack and becoming a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She and Jack took their grandchildren on many camping trips and adventures. She made special photo albums for her grandchildren and planned many wonderful celebrations with them. Donna was a member of First United Methodist Church in Kearney.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Jack; her daughter, Jackie (Terry) Sorensen of Minden; her son, Greg (Wronda Carpenter) Tubbs of Gibbon; granddaughters, Jennifer (Hayden) Rucker and Jianna (Marcus) Arens; grandson, Trevor (Tess) Sorensen; four great-grandchildren; sister, Molly Mott of Grand Island; brother-in-law, Charley (Reita) Lloyd of Callaway in addition to many other extended family members and friends.

Preceding her in death were her parents Percy Leibhart and Mabel (Leibhart) Berry, brother Jerry Leibhart, and in-laws Clarence and Nora Tubbs.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, June 5, 2026, at Craig Funeral Home in Minden. Burial will follow at the Minden Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Memorials in Donna’s honor are kindly suggested to the Minden Opera House or the Jensen Memorial Library in Minden. Arrangements are under the care of Craig Funeral Home in Minden.
