Edith F. Carter, 86, resident of Bethany home in Minden, passed away on March 31, 2025, at the age of 86. She was surrounded by loved ones in her last few days and had a peaceful passing. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at Bethany Home Chapel in Minden with PMA Julie Schmidt officiating. Private family inurnment will be held at a later date at the Benkelman Cemetery. There will be no visitation or book signing. Memorials in Edith's honor are kindly suggested to the Wounded Warrior Foundation. Arrangements are under the care of Craig Funeral Home in Minden.
Edith was born to Wilber and Gracie (McMillan) Scarrow on December 10, 1938. She married Melvin L. Carter and from their union they had four sons: Micheal, Robert, Steven and Scott. After Melvin's death in 1989, Edith went back to school and obtained her LPN license. After much traveling and moving she settled in Nebraska to be closer to her sons.
Edith is survived by two sons; Robert Carter (Julie) of Minden and Steven Carter (Jana) of Grand Island and four grandkids; Nicholas Carter, Misty Cole, Rebecca Aspel and Lela Carter and many great grandchildren. Two sisters; Esther Burket (Ron) and Elaine Petersen (Mike) and one brother, Lloyd Scarrow (Charlotte Hallet).
Edith was preceded in death by her husband Melvin; two sons, Michael and Scott; one sister, Ethel; two brothers, Jay Dee and Floyd; and her parents, Wilber and Gracie.
Edith gave her all to her family and friends, never asking for anything in return. She held strong to her faith and found comfort there through all of life's challenges and tribulations.
