Elvera J. Frerichs, 85, of Kearney, formerly of Hildreth, passed away on Wednesday, April 30, 2025 at St. Lukes - Good Samaritan Society in Kearney. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 8, 2025 at Zion Lutheran Church, west of Macon with Rev. Marcia Dorn officiating. Interment will be held following the service at the Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery. west of Macon. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 7, 2025 at Craig Funeral Home - Jelden Chapel in Hildreth. Memorials in Elvera's honor are kindly suggested to Mosaic in Axtell, The Closet in Minden, Hildreth Volunteer Fire Department or to the American Alzheimer's Association. Arrangements are under the care of Craig Funeral Home in Minden.
Elvera Johanna Frerichs was born on April 11, 1940 in Naponee to George and Lydia (Kuster) Fegter. She grew up in the Franklin area, attending School #59 and graduating from Franklin High School with the class of 1958.
She was united in marriage to Dale E. Frerichs on February 5, 1961 at Zion Lutheran Church in Macon, and to this union four children were born: Ricky, Lori, Karen and Tarcia. The family made their home on the family farm south of Hildreth. Elvera worked for the Franklin Nursing Home and then became head of housekeeping at Mosaic - Bethphage Mission in Axtell where she worked until her retirement. Due to many health concerns, Elvera moved to St. Lukes in Kearney in January of 2013.
Elvera was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Hildreth and Trinity Lutheran Church in Hildreth. She spent many years volunteering at the Closet in Minden. Elvera enjoyed sewing, crafting, baking, and gardening. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and family. Elvera will fondly be remembered for her wonderful laugh.
Those left to cherish her memory include: her husband Dale of Franklin; son, Ricky Frerichs; daughters, Lori Frerichs, Karen and husband, Lawrence Johnston, and Tarcia Frerichs; grandchildren, Devin Frerichs, Shianne Frerichs, Reanna Crites, Derek Frerichs and Alex Frerichs; great-grandchildren, Leah Frerichs and JJ Napolski; brother, Gerald (Marti) Fegter; as well as a host of extended relatives and close friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother and sister-in-law, Dewayne and Judy Fegter.
