After a few years in Red Cloud, the family moved to Gothenburg, where Jim spent the majority of his childhood, graduating high school in 1962. He was lucky enough to spend his life doing what he loved: farming and ranching.
Jim was a good neighbor, a valued friend, and an involved member of his community, serving as a Tehama Shriner in Hastings, a member of the American Legion for more than 54 years, a Master Mason for more than 50 years in Kearney Lodge #46, and a Past Master in Minden Lodge #127. He served his country in the Army and National Guard from September 9, 1964 to September 8, 1970.
Committed to his hobbies and interests, Jim was a member of the Minden Gun Club, a charter member of the Valley Gun Club, a Life Member of the NRA, an Associate Member of the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA), and longtime member of the Winchester Arms Collectors Association. Jim was a helper, a resource, a keeper and creator of stories, a gatherer of people, and someone who gave generously of himself.
He is survived by many friends and family who will miss him greatly.
