James "Jim" R. Buss, 81, of Kearney formerly of Minden, passed away on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at Kearney Regional Medical Center – Bryan Health. The family is honoring Jim's wish to not hold a public service. Private family inurnment will be held at the Antelope Cemetery, near Brady, Nebraska. Memorials in Jim's honor are kindly suggested to the family for later designation. Craig Funeral Home in Minden is assisting the family.

James "Jim" Randall Buss was born on September 25, 1943, in Gothenburg to Julius J. and Lois E. (Ballmer) Buss. He served his country in the National Guard during the Vietnam era. Jim was united in marriage to Judy Miller on September 12, 1965, in Seva Dal Church in Brady and to this union, three children were born: Jeffrey, Jodi and Jeremy. Jim was a successful businessman and an active community member while living in Minden. Jim owned and operated the Jack and Jill / Food Pride Grocery Store in Minden for many years prior to his retirement.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Judy of Kearney; sons, Jeffrey Buss, wife Tami and Jeremy Buss; daughter, Jodi (Buss) Moon, husband Mike Moon; 2 grandchildren Emma and Samantha Moon; sister, Diane Nelson; as well as a host of extended relatives and close friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
