Jerrold "Jerry" G. Torske, 88, of Hastings, passed away on Friday, October 24, 2025, at Mary Lanning Healthcare in Hastings. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at Eaton Cemetery near Heartwell with Rev. Lon Landsmann officiating. A fellowship gathering will be held after the graveside service at the Heartwell Community Center. Memorials in Jerry's honor are kindly suggested to the family for future designation. Craig Funeral Home in Minden is assisting the family.
Jerrold "Jerry" Godfrey Torske was born on September 22, 1937, in Heartwell to Godfrey and Adeline "Addie" (McPherson) Torske. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and grew up and attended school in Heartwell. Jerry was united in marriage to Karin S. Johnson on June 25, 1966, in Rosemont, Nebraska and to this union, five children were born: Scott, Brenda, Connie, Randy, and Tammie. The family made their home in Holstein where Jerry owned his own construction company. Through the years he also worked for the railroad, constructed grain bins and maintained television towers.
Jerry was a member of the Wanda Lutheran Church in Juniata. He was an avid Husker football and volleyball fan and loved watching western shows. Jerry also had the ability to tell great stories to anyone who was interested. Jerry also enjoyed spending time with his family and watching his grandchildren grow up.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Karin Torske of Hastings; son, Scott (Robin) Torske of Heartwell; daughters, Brenda (Curt) Mack of Kenesaw, Connie (Todd) Bates of Lincoln, and Tammie (Brian) Alloway of Hastings; daughter-in-law, Angie Torske of Hastings; nine grandchildren; brother, Jim (Sharon) Torske of Wichita, KS; sister, Eloise Waechter of Lakewood, CO; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, extended relative and close friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Randy Torske; brothers, James Harold Torske, Nels (Doris) Torske, Robert (Faye) Torske; sisters, Johanna (Leland) Jungert, Betty (Fred) Cook; and brother-in-law, Ken Waechter.
