John A. Madsen, 54, of Minden, passed away on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at St. Anthony's North Hospital in Denver. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 31, 2025, at Craig Funeral Home in Minden with PMA Julie Schmidt officiating. Inurnment with military honors will be held following the service at the Fredericksburg Lutheran Cemetery south of Minden. There will be no visitation. Memorials are kindly suggested to the family for future designation. Arrangements are under the care of Craig Funeral Home in Minden.
John Andrew Madsen was born on July 2, 1970, in Minden to Merlin Eugene and Lavon Ann (Jacobsen) Madsen. He grew up in the Minden area and attended Minden Public School. He later joined the United States Marine Corps where he faithfully served his country from June 1, 1988 until his honorable discharge on December 11, 1995.
John was employed as a crane and heavy equipment operator through the International Brotherhood of Electric Workers for many years. He enjoyed riding dirt bikes, fishing, and spending time with friends and family.
Those left to cherish his memory include his sons, Josh Melroy of Kearney, Taylor Madsen of Marlborough, MA, Brock Madsen of New York, NY; twin daughters, Sarah Schafer and Emily Schafer of Eagle Grove, IA; grandson, Brayden Melroy; brothers, Randall Madsen of Kearney, and Lance Madsen of Minden; as well as a host of extended relatives and close friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Perry Madsen.
