Judith “Judy” K. Gilbert, 81, of Minden, passed away on Friday, September 4, 2026, at her home. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 10, 2026, at First Christian Church in Minden with Kay Tira officiating. Visitation with family present will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at Craig Funeral Home in Minden. Memorials in Judy’s honor are kindly suggested to First Christian Church or to Bethany Home in Minden. Arrangements are under the care of Craig Funeral Home in Minden.

Judith Kay Gilbert was born on May 12, 1945, in Great Bend, KS to Fred J. and Esther L. (Stieben) Adams. She grew up in the Hastings area, graduating from Hastings Senior High School.

She was united in marriage to Donald E. Gilbert on August 14, 1965, in Hastings, and to this union, three children were born: Lynthia, Clarinda “Linda”, and Earl. The family made their home in Minden where Judy was employed by Bethany Home in the kitchen, Jensen Memorial Library, and then later Bethany Home in the housekeeping department. She retired in 2011.

Judy was a devoted member of First Christian Church in Minden, where she was actively involved and helped in many capacities. She enjoyed dancing and attending events with Don at the Hastings Eagles Club. Judy could always be found with a crossword or sudoku puzzle book and was very hard working. She loved spending time with her family and friends, especially taking trips to Culver’s in Kearney with Ellen Burchell.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Clarinda “Linda” Peterson and her husband, Rick, of Crystal Lake, IL; son, Earl Gilbert and his wife, Lori, of Kearney; grandchildren, Travis Holl and his wife, Ashley, Lydia Darling and her husband, Doug, and Vivian Darling; great-grandsons, Hadley Holl and Dean Darling; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, extended relatives and close friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Don in 2025; daughter, Lynthia Holmes; brother, Donald Adams; and sister, Shirley Kiiker.
