Obituary

Lamoine G. Harms, 81, formerly of Excelsior Springs MO, passed away on Friday, May 23, 2025, at Wel-Life Assisted Living in Kearney NE. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 30, 2025, at Emmanuel Lutheran Cemetery, south of Hildreth NE with Rev. Caroline Schenk officiating. Military honors will be presented by the Hildreth Veterans of Foreign Wars in conjunction with the United States Army Funeral Honors Team. There will be no visitation. Memorials in Lamoine's honor are kindly suggested to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements are under the care of Craig Funeral Home in Minden NE.

Lamoine Gerald Harms was born on May 9, 1944, in Minden NE to Albert and Minnie (Osterbuhr) Harms. He grew up in the Hildreth area and received his education from Hildreth Public School. Lamoine faithfully served his country in the United States Army from 1967 until honorably discharged in 1971. He resided in Missouri for over 50 years before moving back to Nebraska due to his declining health. He was employed by the Ford Motor Corporation for 44 years before retiring.

Lamoine was a member of the Excelsior Springs V.F.W., and the United Auto Workers, as well as the American Legion and The Elks Club. He loved Harley Davidson motorcycles, restoring engines, cars and pickups. Lamoine also enjoyed making homemade potato chips and peanut brittle and sharing them with family and friends. His favorite pastime was hanging out with his friends in his garage frying up Rocky Mountain oysters and fish and also having cream can suppers. He also enjoyed playing the game "Tonk" for quarters.

Those left to cherish his memory include his nieces, Diana (Larry) Hill, North Platte NE; Deanna Neighbors, Longmont CO; Devri (Mark) Walker, Columbia TN; Debbie (Brent) Harms, Wilcox NE; Lori (Craig) Tripe Alma NE; Kari (David) Kelley, Bloomington IL; Juli (Dennis) Byrne, Gibbon NE. Nephews, Mike Johnson, Wilcox NE; Jammie (Shawni) Wright, Elm Creek NE and Jeffrey Wright; as well as many great nieces and nephews and sister-in-law Dorothy Harms of North Platte NE.

He is presided in death by his parents; brother, Delbert Harms; sisters, Lorraine Johnson and husband Eugene, Diane Albright and husband Dale; niece Denine Harms; and nephews, Donny Harms and Stan Neighbors.
