Obituary

Laneta Ann “Lee” Krull, 85, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, April 26, 2026, in Kearney, Nebraska. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Kearney with Rev. Tim Barone officiating. The service will be streamed to the church’s YouTube page. Private family interment will be held prior to services at the Minden Cemetery. Memorials in Lee’s honor are kindly suggested to Christ Lutheran School or Christ Lutheran Church in Prosser, Zion Lutheran Church Education Fund in Kearney, Concordia University Scholarship for Christian education in Seward, or Holy Cross Lutheran Church for Christian education in Kearney. Arrangements are under the care of Craig Funeral Home in Minden.

Lee was born October 2, 1940, in Hastings, Nebraska, to Lloyd and Virginia (Wheeler) Augustin. She grew up in the rural Hastings area and graduated from Hastings High School in 1958. On February 12, 1961, she was united in marriage to Dale Krull at Peace Lutheran Church in Hastings. To this union, three children were born: Kevin, Jeff, and Brenda. The family made their home in Minden.

Lee took great pride in being a homemaker during her children’s early years. She later worked as a bookkeeper for the Kearney County News. Her entrepreneurial spirit led her to open Granny’s Attic in Minden, where she was owner and operator. In 1980, she joined Dale in establishing the Krull Agency in Minden, and together they built a life of shared work and purpose until their retirement in 2000.

Lee was a devoted member of several Lutheran congregations over the years, including St. Paul Lutheran Church and Bethany Lutheran Church in Minden, as well as First Lutheran Church and Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Kearney. She found deep joy in serving others through volunteer work, including her involvement with the Good Samaritan Hospital Foundation Board and as a hospital volunteer. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society.

Music and community were woven into Lee’s life. She loved singing in area choirs and playing the organ for church. She was known for her love of cooking, her eye for antiques and collectibles, and, most of all, the time she cherished with family and friends.

Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Kevin Krull and his wife Julie of Minden; their children and grandchildren: Spencer and Regina Krull of Kearney (Raelyn, Bexley, and Teegyn), Quincey and Will Miller of Minden/Union, New Jersey (Willow and Oliver), and Cody and Lindsey Krull of Minden (Kooper, Collin, and Cam); daughter, Brenda Wiltfong and her husband Scott of Grand Island; their children and grandchild: Riley and Taylor Wiltfong of Milford (Callan), Carson and Sydney Wiltfong of Lincoln (Briar), and Kalee and Garrett Schardt of Davenport; sisters-in-law, Lola Thiel and her husband Ray of Omaha, and Karen Bellefeuil and her husband Phil of Chicago; brother-in-law, Larry Schutte of Hastings; along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dale; her parents, Lloyd and Virginia Augustin; her son, Jeff Krull; her brother, Roger Augustin; her sisters-in-law, Betty June and Velda Schutte; and her parents-in-law, John and Leta Krull.
