Obituary

Lawrence "Larry" R. Weaver, 90, of Kearney, formerly of Axtell, passed away on Saturday, December 9, 2023 at Kinship Point – Northridge in Kearney. Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 14, 2023 at First Presbyterian Church in Axtell with Rev. Logan Ellis and Rev. Erica Harley officiating. The service will be streamed to the church's YouTube page. A celebration of life reception will be held at the Kearney American Legion Hall (located at 1223 Central Avenue) later that day, beginning at 2:30 p.m. Private family inurnment will be held at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Axtell at a later date. Memorials in Larry's honor are kindly suggested to First Presbyterian Church in Axtell, the Kearney American Legion Post #52, or to AseraCare Hospice in Kearney. Arrangements are under the care of Craig Funeral Home in Minden.

Lawrence Richard Weaver was born on September 22, 1933 in Indiana to Glen L. and Fern L. (Kiger) Weaver. He grew up in the Ambia, IN area and attended school at Ambia High School. He entered the Indiana Army National Guard where he faithfully served from 1955 to 1959 during the Korean War.

He was united in marriage to Patricia A. Anno on August 21, 1953 in Ambia, IN and to this union, two children were born: Glen Michael and Debora Diane. The family made their home in Axtell. Larry was employed by Delux Manufacturing and owned and operated Weaver Electric for many years. He also served as district manager of M.F.S.

Larry was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Axtell, the Minden Country Club, Kearney American Legion Post #52 and the Axtell Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed watching Nebraska football, playing golf, and having a CC. In his early days he enjoyed racing boats, go-carts, stock and drag cars, snow mobiles, and fishing.

Those left to cherish his memory include son, Glen Michael "Mike" (Betty) Weaver; daughter, Debora Diane "Deb" (Mark) Readshaw; 4 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; brother, Max (Pam) Weaver; sisters, Glenna Foster and Orleana (Don) Rater; as well as a host of extended relatives and close friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Glen and Fern; wife, Patty; and brothers, Glen LeRoy, Robert and Howard.
