Leland "Lee" Frecks, 77 years of age from Minden died on Thursday, August 31, 2017 at Silver Ridge Assisted Living in Gretna, NE. Memorial services will be on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Minden with Rev. Donald Hunzeker officiating. Burial will be prior to the service at the Minden Cemetery. No visitation. Craig Funeral Home in Minden is in charge of arrangements.

Leland J. Frecks, 77 years of age from Minden, Nebraska died on Thursday, August 31, 2017 at SilverRidge Assisted Living and Memory Support in Gretna, Nebraska.  Lee was born on October 20, 1939 in Macon, Nebraska to John and Helene (Johnson) Frecks.  He grew up in the Franklin area and graduated from Franklin High School in 1958.

On November 27, 1960 he married Joan Schwenke in Minden, Nebraska.  They moved to Lincoln in 1962 and returned to Minden in 1977.  Lee worked for Schmidt International for a number of years until he began at the Nebraska State Department of Roads where he retired from in 2010.

Lee was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Minden.  He enjoyed spending time with his four grandsons, restoring old tractors and spending time taking drives through the country. He also loved attending his grandson's sporting and school activities.

Survivors include his son, Kirk Frecks and wife Melissa of Minden; daughter, Kirstin Frecks-Edgman and her husband Eric of Gretna; four grandsons, Dalton, Hunter, Grayson and Carter; one brother, Glenn Frecks and wife Karol of Holdrege;two brother-in laws, Jack Schwenke and wife Jan of Ft. Morgan, CO; Gene Schwenke and his wife Jan of Lincoln. He also had many nieces and nephews who he loved dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Joan.

Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Minden with Rev. Donald Hunzeker officiating.  Burial in the Minden Cemetery prior to the memorial service.  Craig Funeral Home in Minden is in charge of arrangements.
