Leonard L. Ginder, 75, of Minden, passed away on Wednesday, May 14, 2025 at the Central Nebraska Veterans Home in Kearney. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 21, 2025 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Minden with Rev. William Zwick officiating. The family requests casual attire. The service will be streamed to the church's YouTube page. Private family burial will be held at a later date. There will be no visitation. Memorials in Leonard's honor are kindly suggested to the St. Paul Lutheran Church Sanctuary Renovation Fund, St. Croix Hospice in Grand Island, or the Central Nebraska Veterans Home in Kearney. Arrangements are under the care of Craig Funeral Home in Minden.
Leonard Lawerence Ginder was born on December 30, 1949 in Kearney to Bernard and Shirley (Fielding) Erpelding. He entered the United States Marines where he faithfully served from May 31, 1968 to May 24, 1972. Leonard was united in marriage to JoLayne Carter on July 9, 1971 in Minden and to this union four children were born: Lenny, Angie, Tara, Cassie, and bonus son, Chris Morris. The family made their home in Minden, where he owned L & L Construction with his son Lenny. Leonard spent the last three years living at the Central Nebraska Veterans Home in Kearney, which he greatly enjoyed.
He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. Leonard took pride in being able to operate heavy equipment of many types and loved watching others operating them after he was diagnosed with IBM. Monday night poker was very important, and he treated all the "boys like gold". He often went to horse races at Fonner Park and loved playing pitch with his family.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, JoLayne Ginder of Minden; son, Lenny Ginder (Tonya Nickel) of Minden; daughters, Angie Ginder, Tara Ginder (Paul Wellman), and Cassie Ginder Wright (Mike Wright) all of Minden; bonus son, Chris Morris (Dena Maguire) of Minden; grandchildren, Devon Ginder, Regan Ginder and Marissa Wellman all of Minden; brother, Richard Ginder (Jennifer) of Meridian, ID; sister, Geraldine Delozier of Post Falls, ID; in-laws, Jan Carter (Lori) of Minden, Jim Carter (Ruth) of Abbyville, KS, and Jerry Morris of Cowley, WY; as well as a host of extended relatives and close friends.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Randy and Lad; sister, Ginger Morris, parents, Bernard and Shirley Erpelding; and stepfather, George Ginder.
