Lyle Clare Heckenlively was born on October 13, 1935 in Kearney to Floyd B. and Iva E. (Dyer) Heckenlively. He grew up in the northwest Phelps county area and attended school at Loomis where he graduated with the class of 1953. He entered the United States Army where he faithfully served his country from 1955 to 1958. During his service, he was stationed in Korea. Lyle was united in marriage to Anne L. Gugel in 1958 and to this union, two sons were born: Rawdy and Shane. The family made their home at various places throughout the Midwest. The couple later divorced.

Lyle began a long career of management of Agriculture cooperatives with the union Equity Co-Op in Holdrege and later worked for several co-ops in the area. He was a member of the masonic lodge, he was an expert woodworker, enjoyed rebuilding saddles, listening to polka music, and spending time with friends and family. Lyle was a cowboy at heart and never met a stranger. He was a man of great honor and took life's responsibilities seriously. Later in life, Lyle enjoyed the heartfelt bond he made with his special friend, E. Marlene Dillow.

Those left to cherish his memory include his son, Shane of Hildreth; grandchildren, Sara and Jeremy; brother, Lynn (Helen) Heckenlively; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, extended relatives and close friends.

Lyle was preceded in death by his parents; son, Rawdy Heckenlively; special friend, E. Marlene Dillow; infant twin brothers during birth and brother, Merle Heckenlively.
