Marcus Allen Fox, of Fergus Falls, MN, passed away suddenly on Friday, July 19, 2024 in Erhard, Minnesota at the young age of 27. A service to celebrate Marcus's life will be held on Monday, July 29, at 10:30 a.m. CT at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hildreth, NE with Rev. Caroline Schenk officiating. The service will be streamed to the church's Facebook and YouTube pages. Inurnment will be held following the service at Emmanuel Lutheran Cemetery, south of Hildreth, NE. Memorials in Marcus' honor are kindly suggested to the family for later designation. Arrangements are under the care of Craig Funeral Home in Minden.

He was born on Saturday, November 30, 1996 in Benkelman, Nebraska to Daniel and Lisa (Johnson) Fox. He was baptized and confirmed in the Zion Lutheran Church in Benkelman, Nebraska.

Marcus grew up in Stratton, Nebraska where he attended Stratton Elementary then Dundy County Stratton High School, in Benkelman, Nebraska, graduating as valedictorian of the class of 2015. During his youth, Marcus was actively involved in his community. He served as a Sunday School and Bible School teacher and loved going to Sky Ranch Lutheran church camp in the mountains near Fort Collins, CO. In the summers he participated in 4-H shooting sports and various sports camps. In school, he was a fierce lawyer on the Mock Trial team and he competed in football, wrestling, track and Future Business Leader of America (FBLA). Marcus practiced his entrepreneurial & business savvy management skills by designing advertisements for mowing and odd jobs and posting them in local businesses with little tear off papers with his contact info. He built a business of mowing customers, earning him many friends and relationships along the way. Other summer jobs included working for Ladenburger Farms and mowing the road sides for the Hitchcock County Roads Department. The money he earned was used for the next best toy for him, being a motorcycle or a jet ski or other adventures. He always enjoyed the family adventures of camping, hiking, and fishing along with deer hunting trips with his dad and brother.

After high school, Marcus pursued his degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Supply Chain Management at the University of Nebraska - Kearney graduating in 2019. He balanced his academic pursuits with a part-time job at Ashley Furniture in Kearney, Nebraska. Upon graduation, he took a job with DMSI in Omaha, Nebraska where he was a Lead Implementation Analyst. Throughout high school and college, he was involved in various community service projects. One philanthropy project he was especially proud of was organizing the first annual "Sig Taus," a cornhole and ladder golf tournament for the Special Olympics, building several sets of cornhole boards and golf ladders for the event.

He married his best friend and the love of his life, Kendra (Hoffert) Fox on May 29, 2021 at "The Farm" near Upland, Nebraska. They pursued their sense of adventure by traveling straight from the Johnson family farm to Salt Lake Valley, Utah where Marcus continued to work remotely for DMSI. In the three short years they lived in Utah, Marcus and Kendra spent time exploring the many National and State Parks in the area. In their free time, they enjoyed camping, hiking, fishing, biking, and kayaking near their home in South Jordan. Much time was spent golfing, disc golfing, rollerblading, water skiing and snow skiing or learning and becoming experts at the next best thing in the way of adventure. If not playing games outdoors, for which cornhole was a favorite, there were continuous board and card games being played inside.

In June 2024, Marcus and Kendra bought their first home and moved to Fergus Falls, Minnesota to be near family. His adventurous spirit shone through in his love for exploring the great outdoors and planning for the future.

Marcus's quick wit, kind heart, and infectious smile left a lasting impact on everyone he met. He was known for his ability to light up a room and for his readiness to embark on new adventures, whether it was a hike in the mountains or ski foiling on the lake near Kendra's parents' home.

Marcus is survived and deeply missed by his loving wife Kendra, his dog Rocky, parents, Dan and Lisa, and his brother, Benjamin and friend Mary Lindsey. He also leaves behind parents-in-law Dave and Janet Hoffert; and sister-in-law, Jessi Hoffert and friend Montana Haggerty; maternal grandmother, Maxine Casper Johnson, his paternal grandmother, Evelyn (Evie) Davis Fox, maternal aunt, Leann Eggen and husband John; paternal uncles Teddy Fox and wife, Karen; Doug Fox and friend Tracy Louvier; Baptismal sponsor godparent, Jonathan Robitaille; Cousins Grace Robitaille, Abby Robitaille, Hailey Fox, and Hunter Fox; and a close-knit family of great aunts and uncles, cousins, and many friends. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Leon Johnson, paternal grandfather, Lyle Fox, and his maternal aunt, Nancy Johnson.

Marcus's legacy of kindness, laughter, and love for life will continue to inspire all who knew him. Marcus was a giving person and will continue that gift as he was an organ donor. As we bid farewell to this remarkable young man, let us carry forward the light and sense of adventure he brought into our lives.
