Margaret Russell (Bang) Christensen was born on October 10, 1920 in rural Kearney County to Andrew and Bessie (Wise) Bang. She graduated from Minden High School with the class of 1938. She was united in marriage to Rodney V. Christensen on August 31, 1941. Following a period of living in California during World War II, the couple returned to the Minden area and the family farm.

As her children grew, Margaret purchased a women's clothing store and entered the world of retail at The Fashion Shoppe until her retirement.

She was an active life-long member of Westminster United Presbyterian Church. Margaret was the second female elected to the Minden School Board and served a term of eight years, some as president. She also served as president of the Minden Chamber of Commerce and was an active member of the P.E.O. sisterhood.

In her retirement, she loved to travel, read, play golf, and play bridge with her many friends. Her competitive spirit was especially evident on the golf course and at the bridge table where friends seemed happier to be her partner than her opponent. Spending time with her extended family of nieces, nephews and their children and grandchildren brought her great joy.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of fifty-three years, Rodney; her siblings, Alton Bang, Evelyn Swanson Bloomfield, Sara Maren Olsen Wilkey, and Michael Bang.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Susan Anderson (Gene), Patricia Owen (Sam), and Dr. James Christensen (Robbie Muñoz); four granddaughters, Megan Owen Reyes, Sarah Anderson Corcoran, Katie Owen Sisneros, and Christine Anderson Tyler; six great-grandchildren, Tyler Reyes, Maggie Sisneros, Katelyn Reyes, Andrew Corcoran, Sam Sisneros, and Benjamin Corcoran; as well as a host of extended relatives and close friends.
