Marlin L. Larsen, 73, of Minden, passed away on Saturday, December 13, 2025 at his home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 17, 2025 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Minden with Rev. William Zwick officiating. The service will be streamed to the church's YouTube page. Interment will be held following the service at the Minden Cemetery with military honors presented by the Minden American Legion and Heartwell Veterans of Foreign Wars. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service time. Memorials in Marlin's honor are kindly suggested to St. Paul Lutheran Church or to the family for future designation. Arrangements are under the care of Craig Funeral Home in Minden.
Marlin Leroy Larsen was born on October 1, 1952, to Leo and Esther (Sinsel) Larsen at the Seeley Hospital in Minden. He grew up on the family farm and attended country school. He finished his education in Minden, graduating in 1970.
He met his wife, Linda Whitsell, on a blind date while she was visiting Minden. They were married on January 14, 1972, and were blessed with one son, Douglas. Marlin was drafted into the United States Army and served from 1973 until 1975, spending one year in Korea. He was employed by Piester Manufacturing and later took over the family farm operation.
Marlin was a lifelong member of St. Paul Lutheran Church where he was baptized, confirmed and married. He enjoyed gunsmithing, hunting, fishing, blacksmithing and stationary engines.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 53 years, Linda of Minden; son, Douglas and his wife, Steph of Minden; beloved granddaughters, Emily and Kimberly; sister, Sheryl Morris; sisters-in-law, Karen Baskett and Linda Whitsell; brother-in-law, Bruce Whitsell and his wife, Pat; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, extended relatives and close friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; infant sister, Karen; father and mother-in-law, Bill Whitsell and Helen Rumsby; sister-in-law, Kay Whitsell; brothers-in-law, Larry Whitsell and Myron Morris; uncle, Clarence Sinsel; and aunt, Doris Nielsen.
