Martha Ellis, 100 years of age from Minden, NE died on Friday, July 22, 2016 at the Bethany Home, Assisted Living in Minden. Celebration of Life services will be on Thursday, July 28, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Westminster United Presbyterian Church in Minden with Rev. Donald Becker officiating. Burial will be in the Minden Cemetery prior to the celebration service. Visitation will be at the Layton-Craig Funeral Home in Minden on Wednesday from 3-5 p.m.

Martha was born on November 30, 1915 in Minden to David and Eva (Knouse) Larsen. She grew up in the Minden area and graduated from Minden High School in 1934.

On February 5, 1936 she married Orval Ellis, and they lived and farmed near Minden. They moved into Minden in 1988. Orval passed away in 1990.

Martha was a member of the Westminster United Presbyterian Church in Minden. She was a member of the J.B. Club, loved to quilt and has made quilts for all her family; she baked bread and made cookies for many people in the Minden area and also family. She and Orval hosted many people from Thailand over the years. Memorials in Martha's memory are strongly suggested.

Survivors include two sons, Clifton and wife, Joyce of Omaha and Dan of Grand Island; daughter, Bertha Meyer and husband, Raymond of Bertrand; daughter in-law, Carol Ellis of Minden; 11 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; 8 great-great grandchildren and sister in-law, Martha Larsen of Loveland, Colorado. She is preceded in death by her husband, Orval; son Delbert; daughter in-law Donna Ellis; 3 brothers and 1 sister.
