Michael D. Smith, 51, of Holdrege, passed away on Saturday, October 23, 2021 at his home. Celebration of life services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October, 29, 2021 at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Holdrege with the Rev. Kenton Birtell officiating. Private family interment will be held at a later date. There will be no visitation. Memorials in Michael's honor are kindly suggested to the family for later designation. Craig Funeral Home in Minden is assisting the family.

Michael David Smith was born on October 26, 1969 to David and Venita (Upson) Smith. He grew up in the Lincoln area and attended school in the Oxford area. He was united in marriage to Lia L. Andersen on May 28, 2009 in Holdrege. With this union, Michael was blessed with one son, Austin. Michael was employed in food service and later owned and operated his own metal recycling business.

He was a member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Holdrege. Michael enjoyed fishing and boating, and the many fun trips he and Lia took while scrapping. He especially enjoyed spending time with his friends and family.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife Lia Smith of Holdrege; step-son, Austin Mason and special friend Tori Coats of York; step-father, Darrell Dawson of Hays, KS; brother, Mark Dawson; sister, Sharon Cherry of Red Cloud; sisters-in-law, Carol Green of Arizona, Wanda Salmon of Central City, and Tammy Andersen of David City; as well as a host of extended relatives and close friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
