Mildred E. (Stuehm) Adam was born on November 29, 1926 at home in Hildreth to Frank and Erna (Staben) Stuehm. She was baptized on January 1, 1927, and confirmed on April 12, 1939 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Wilcox. She grew up on the family farm and attended Hildreth High School, graduating in May of 1944.

She was united in marriage to Donald F. Adam on October 14, 1945 at her family farm in Hildreth and to this union, four children were born: Ronald, Beverly, Douglas, and Teresa. The family made their home in Macon, where she was a dedicated farm wife and homemaker.

Mildred served as a proud member of the area V.F.W. Auxiliary, as well as on the board for the Golden Years Center in Hildreth She was also a member of Trintiy Lutheran Church in Hildreth, the Trinity Quilting Club and Trinity W.E.L.C.A. She was previously a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Macon and St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hildreth.

She was a humble and faithful woman and did not like anyone doting on her for her accomplishments. She enjoyed quilting, scrapbooking, and gardening. Mildred was a bit of a historian, as she collected area obituaries for over 60 years. Most of all though, she loved taking trips with her grandchildren and spending time with her family.

Those left to cherish her memory include her sons, Ronald (Vicki) Adam of Kingston, OK and Douglas (Katy) Adam of Lakewood, CO; daughter, Beverly (Gary) Meyer of Red Cloud; son-in-law, Jeff (Carol) Loschen of Hildreth; 9 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Marietta Blank and Elane Stuehm; as well as a host of extended relatives and close friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Teresa Loschen; great-granddaughter, Leyla Meyer-Hookstra; and brother, Lavern Stuehm.
