Mildrew "Millie" E. Strolberg, 94, of Kearney, formerly of Axtell, passed away on Saturday, May 25, 2019 at St. Luke's Good Samaritan Village in Kearney. Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at Bethany Lutheran Church, south of Axtell, with the Rev. Marcia Dorn officiating. Inurnment will be held following services at the Bethany Lutheran Church Cemetery. There will be no visitation as the family has honored Millie's wish to be cremated. Memorials in Millie's honor are kindly suggested to the family for later designation. Craig Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Millie was born on June 18, 1924, on the family farm near Axtell. She was the youngest of three children born to Emil J. and Victoria M. (Ljunvall) Strolberg. She grew up in the Axtell area and attended school in Wilcox.
Following her high school graduation, Millie moved to Kearney where she worked at the Good Samaritan Hospital, Kearney Airbase, Western Manufacturing, Bear Brand Hosiery, Baldwin and Eaton Manufacturing.
Millie was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Axtell, where she was baptized and confirmed. She enjoyed polka music, car rides, bowling, taking walks, morning coffee with friends and hot air balloons. She will be missed by many close friends and family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Willard Strolberg and wife Marjorie; sister, Pauline Erickson and husband Erick; niece, Patricia Erickson and nephew, Leroy Erickson.
Those left to cherish her memory include her niece, Vickie Erickson of Iola, WI; nephew, Erick Ray Erickson of Funk, NE; niece, Debra Miller of Minden, NE, and nephew, David Strolberg of Axtell, NE; close friends, Betty Winslow, Karen Humphrey and Angie Winslow, all of Kearney; as well as a host of extended relatives and friends.
