Mona B. Bunger, 94, of Hildreth, passed away on Sunday, January 18, 2026, at her home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hildreth with Rev. Donald Hunzeker and PMA Julie Schmidt officiating. The service will be streamed to the church's YouTube page. Interment will be held following the service at the Hildreth Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Memorials in Mona's honor are kindly suggested to the family for future designation. Arrangements are under the care of Craig Funeral Home in Minden.
Mona Belle Bunger was born on October 2, 1931, in Upland to Ehme D. and Vada E. (Campbell) Casper. She grew up in the Hildreth area, graduating from Hildreth High School with the class of 1948.
She was united in marriage to LaMoyne "Bud" Bunger on August 21, 1955, at Emannuel Lutheran Church in Hildreth and to this union, two children were born: Russell and Susan. The family made their home in Hildreth where she helped Bud with the family farming operation and was a substitute teacher for Hildreth Public Schools. She also lived in Lexington where she was an elementary school teacher.
Mona was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She enjoyed playing in bridge and canasta card clubs.
Those left to cherish her memory include her son Russell Bunger; daughter, Susan (Monte) Salisbury; grandchildren, Ashley (Cruz) Rangel, Sarah (Tony) Davison, and Quinn Bunger; great-grandchildren, Leon, Brock, Kaden, Rhys, Elijah, and Ethan Davison; sisters, Lyla Blackburn and Pat Hauner; as well as a host of extended relatives and close friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, daughter-in-law, Allison Bunger; sister, Donna Kempker; and brothers, Lyle Casper and Wendell Casper.
