Pearl H. Quadhamer, 103 years of age, of Hildreth, Nebraska, passed away on May 18, 2026, at Brookestone Gardens in Kearney, Nebraska. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 23, 2026 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hildreth with Rev. Caroline Schenk officiating. The service will be streamed to the church’s YouTube page. Private family interment will be held prior to services at the Emmanuel Lutheran Cemetery, south of Hildreth. Visitation with family present will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Friday, May 22, 2026 at Craig Funeral Home – Jelden Chapel in Hildreth. Memorials in Pearl’s honor are kindly suggested to the Hildreth Volunteer Fire Department, the Hildreth Public Library, or to the Trinity Lutheran Church WELCA Quilting Group. Arrangements are under the care of Craig Funeral Home in Minden.
She was born in Macon, Nebraska, on September 27, 1922, to Simon and Anna (Ackerman) Kleen. She was raised on a farm east of Macon. She was baptized at Zion Lutheran Church in Macon and confirmed in 1934 at the Methodist Church of Macon.
Pearl attended and graduated from Franklin High School in 1940. On January 15, 1944, she was united in marriage to Elmer Quadhamer. They were blessed with three children, Miriam, Hollus, and Rex, and raised their family on the Quadhamer family farm three miles south of Hildreth.
Pearl taught at a one-room schoolhouse for four years. She was employed by the University of Michigan for 19 years as a field interviewer in the research department. Pearl worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 27 years. She was a postal clerk and ended her career as postmaster in Holbrook, Nebraska. Pearl was a representative for the Benjamin Franklin Stamp Club and traveled to schools to promote stamp collecting to elementary and junior high school students to teach about geography, art, and history through stamps.
Pearl was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church and later Trinity Lutheran Church in Hildreth. She enjoyed quilting at home and church, baking, playing piano, reading, and spending time with family. She was close with her sisters throughout their lives and traveled frequently to visit them in Nevada and South Carolina.
Survivors include daughters, Miriam Mietzner and husband Douglas of Hildreth, and Hollus Eckhoff of Ashland, and son Rex Quadhamer and wife Debra of Omaha. Grandchildren, Kristi Mietzner and husband Luis Baga, Sara Mietzner and husband Matthew Palmatier, Annette Radde and husband Sheridan, Amy O’Brien and husband Tim, Eric Quadhamer, Erin Quadhamer, and Nathan Quadhamer. Great-grandchildren Anna-Milena and Sebastian Baga; Lydia, Joaquin, Luca, and Issa Palmatier; Kaitlyn and Connor Radde; Myer, Owen, and Collins O'Brien; many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Pearl was preceded in death by her parents; husband Elmer; two sisters, Freda Coon and husband Bob, and Louella Hitchcock and husband Fred; brother, Alfred Kleen and wife Bertha; and son-in-law, Randall Eckhoff.
