Phylis Elaine (Nielsen) Rosno, 75, of Santee, California, died Sept 28, 2021, at Sharp Grossmont Hospice Care in San Diego, CA. Family services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 6, 2021, at Fredericksburg Lutheran Church south of Minden, NE with PMA Julie Schmidt officiating. There will be no visitation. Interment will be held following services at the Fredericksburg Lutheran Cemetery. Memorials in Phylis' honor are kindly suggested to the family for later designation. Craig Funeral Home in Minden is assisting the family.

Phylis was born April 30, 1946, in Minden, NE, to Richard and Elaine (Bang) Nielsen. She grew up on a farm south of Minden. She was baptized and confirmed at Fredericksburg Lutheran Church.

Phylis' fingers were like magic when it came to playing the piano and organ. She often played for the Church service, special music, and the children's choir. In high school she accompanied almost every soloist, ensemble, chorus, and choir. Listening to her play made people wonder how can only ten fingers do that.

She graduated from Minden High School and Queen Ann's Beauty School of Kearney NE. She was united in marriage to Phil Rouse in 1965 at Fredericksburg, after which the couple lived in Minden and Hastings NE. They later divorced. In the late 1970's she moved to the San Diego, CA area and was employed as an executive secretary and later as a caregiver for the elderly and infirmed.

Her friends and neighbors especially remember her sense of humor, work ethic, loyalty, compassion, and love for her clients. The one thing she hated were the lizards that got into her house from time to time. She was a member of Sonrise Community Church, in Santee, CA.

Survivors include her son, Jeff Rouse of Lincoln, NE; Jeff's daughter, Chelsey Rae Modrell and his grandson, Ayden Ray Sughroue, both of Alaska; Phylis' daughter, Sandy Rouse, Sandy's daughter, Shondraya (Shane) Jedlicka and grandsons, Oliver and Case, all of Lincoln NE; and Phylis' brother, Bill Nielsen (Sharry) of Minden NE.

She was preceded in death by her parents Richard Nielsen and Elaine Nielsen Olson, her granddaughter Alycia Marie Rouse/Jelken, and all of her grandparents, aunts, and uncles.
