Phyllis Ann Gaston, 100, formerly of Norman, passed away on Sunday, August 10, 2025 at The Pines in Blue Hill. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 15, 2025 at the Minden Cemetery with Rev. Donald Hunzeker and PMA Julie Schmidt officiating. Memorials in Phyllis' honor are kindly suggested to the Fredericksburg Lutheran Church in Minden. Arrangements are under the care of Craig Funeral Home in Minden.

Phyllis Ann Gaston was born on July 31, 1925 in Norman to Philip H. and Iva M. (Shogren) Bergsten. She was baptized and confirmed at the Falun Lutheran Church in Norman. Phyllis graduated from Norman High School and attended Nebraska College of Commerce in Hastings.

She was married to Thomas Gaston, Jr. on November 10, 1942. This union was blessed with 2 sons: Roger and Robert, and 3 daughters: Joyce, Jean and Joan.

Phyllis worked 27 years for the U.S. Postal Service, first as Postmaster in Norman, then the last 9 years as Postmaster in Axtell. After retirement, she enjoyed traveling and doing volunteer work in the community.
She was an active member of the Fredericksburg Lutheran Church in Minden, and a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Roger Gaston, Jean Schneider, and Robert Gaston and his wife, Ernalyn; 8 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; as well as numerous cousins and extended relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Tom; daughters, Joan Dorn and Joyce Jugert; brothers, Duane (Lela) Bergsten and Fred (Alicia) Bergsten; and step-grandson, Justin Dorn.
