Rhonda J. Nokes, 64, of Minden, passed away on Friday, June 14, 2019 at Kearney Regional Medical Center. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 18, 2019 at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Minden with the Rev. Christopher Hazzard officiating. Private family inurnment will be held at a later date. There will be no visitation as the family has honored Rhonda's wish to be cremated. Memorials in Rhonda's honor are kindly suggested to the American Diabetes Association or the American Heart Association. Craig Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Rhonda Jean Nokes was born on July 4, 1954 in McCook, Nebraska to Elmer F. and Magdalena A. (Hinz) Roedel. She attended Republican Valley Schools where she graduated with the class of 1972. On January 6, 1974, she was united in marriage to Al Nokes in McCook and to this union, two sons were born: Matthew and Andrew. The family made their home near Minden where Rhonda was employed by the Mid-Nebraska Community Action Partnership as a transportation specialist with the RYDE handy vans for 34 years. She retired in 2018.
Her hobbies included spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, who she absolutely adored, gardening, baking, cooking, shopping, reading, and fishing. She also enjoyed collecting Precious Moment's figurines. Rhonda was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Minden where she enjoyed helping prepare meals for various church events.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 45 years, Al Nokes of Minden; sons, Matthew Nokes of Kearney, and Andrew Nokes of Kearney and significant other, Kelly McConville, of Blue Hill; grandchildren, Tahnna Nokes, Ayla Nokes and Kenna McConville; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Willard "Butch" Roedel; and sisters, Marilyn Dutton and Donna Pflum.
