Richard Harold Anderbery was born on October 29, 1929 to Harold and Helen (Berger) Anderbery in Minden. He grew up in the Axtell area, graduating from Axtell High School with the class of 1947. He entered the United States Marine Corps, where he faithfully served his country from January 15, 1952 to January 14, 1954.
He was united in marriage to the love of his life, Eileen M. Batz, on November 25, 1954 at her parents' home in Miami, FL. Shortly after, the couple moved to Axtell, NE where they farmed and raised their three children: Deborah Ann, David Ray, and Lora Lea.
Richard was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church where he served as the cemetery sexton for many years. He was also a member of the Axtell Lions Club, Kearney Elks Club, Keene Co-op board, and the NRD board prior to his employment there. Planting trees was very important to Richard, he even received an award for his dedication to that from Senator Douglas Kristensen and the Nebraska Unicameral in 2001. He loved working on the farm, especially driving the combine, tractors, and mowing. Richard was a skilled carpenter and wood worker and enjoyed traveling with Eileen, spending winters in Sebring, FL after retirement. Richard especially loved spending time with his family and keeping up with all the happenings on the farm.
