Obituary

Richard A. "Dick" McBride, 85, of Minden, died October 24, 2025 at his home. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., October 29, 2025 at the Minden United Methodist Church with Rev. Kayla Mangrich officiating followed by burial at the Minden Cemetery. The service will be streamed to the church's YouTube and Facebook pages. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., October 28, 2025 at Craig Funeral Home in Minden. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Minden United Methodist Church or Kearney County Health Services Foundation.

Dick was born January 3, 1940, in Minden to J.R. "Shep" and Isabel (Chaplin) McBride. He grew up in Minden and graduated from Minden High School in 1958. Dick earned his bachelor's degree in agriculture from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. Following college, he moved back to Minden to farm.

Dick married Kay Lyn Hamous February 4, 1967 in Minden. He joined Shep at the Minden Terminal selling John Deere farm equipment, and later became an owner. Dick retired in 2001 from the implement business. Then he worked several years helping Dave Craig and then Eric Van Horn at the Craig Funeral Home in Minden.

He was an active community member serving as Chief of the Minden Volunteer Fire Department, Noon Rotary, Minden City Council, Kearney County Board of Supervisors, Minden C.R.A. and Kearney County Hospital Board.

He enjoyed spending time with his family and watching his grandchildren's activities, meeting with the Thursday morning coffee group, and loved serving the Minden Community throughout his life.

Dick is survived by his wife, Kay Lyn of Minden, children, Sarah (Jeff) Thompson of Hastings, Mark (Jennifer) McBride of Kearney, grandchildren, Anna McBride, Max McBride, and Ava McBride of Kearney, in laws, Jim Hamous of Amarillo, TX, Pat Miller of Minden, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Dick was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Patricia, two brothers, Jim (Pam) and Bob (Erma) McBride, sister Pat (Conrad) Peterson, and in laws Judi Hamous and Jim Miller.
