Robert M. Sanders, 69, of rural Upland, passed away on Wednesday, March 20, 2019 as the result of a single vehicle accident near Upland. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 30, 2019 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hildreth with the Rev. Kari Foss officiating. Military honors will be presented following services at the church conducted by the Hildreth V.F.W. Private family interment will be held at a later date. There will be no visitation as the family has honored Bob's wish to be cremated. Memorials in Bob's honor are kindly suggested to the family for later designation. Craig Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Robert Murray Sanders was born on Aug 8, 1949 in Des Moines, Iowa to George and Norma (Buckingham) Sanders. He grew up and attended school in the Marshalltown, Iowa area and graduated from Marshalltown High School with the class of 1967. Following high school, Bob honorably served his country with the United States Army, being stationed in Korea during the Vietnam War.
On November 27, 1987, Bob was united in marriage to Mary Tess Moran in Denver, Colorado. The family moved to Upland in 1997 where Bob was employed by Ecolab and Cargill until retiring in 2008. Bob was a member of the V.F.W., was an avid golfer and fisherman, and enjoyed camping, gardening and spending time with family and friends.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Tess of rural Upland; sons, Troy Sanders and special friend Isela Ibarra, and Chris Sanders and wife Christine; daughter, Niki Whiteman; grandchildren, Jack, Olivia, Maya, Kira, and Isa; brother, Michael Sanders and wife Judy; sister, Cindi Lamasters and husband Rick; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
