Roger A. Wengler, 64, of Minden, passed away on Tuesday, February 6, 2024 at CHI Health – Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. Private family graveside services will be held at the Holstein Cemetery. Memorials in Roger's honor are kindly suggested to Nebraska Pheasants Forever, P.O. Box 1092, Holdrege, NE 68949. Arrangements are under the care of Craig Funeral Home in Minden.
Roger Albert Wengler was born on December 19, 1959 to Dale E. and Darlene (Lang) Wengler in Hastings. He grew up in the Holstein area and later graduated from Minden High School.
He was united in marriage to Bea Torres in 2005 in Hastings, and the family made their home in Holstein before moving to Minden in 2018. Roger was employed for over 35 years with the Adams County Road Department, and later the Kearney County Roads Department until retiring in 2021.
Roger was a member of the Nebraska Pheasants Forever and the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed doing anything outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, gardening, and even canning and making salsa. Roger especially loved the time he spent with his grandchildren. There was no task that he couldn't handle. He could often be found watching Husker football, as well as following the Kansas City Chiefs.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Bea Wengler of Minden; sons, Christopher Winters and Matthew Wengler; grandchildren, Kaden, Gracelynn, and Roman; uncle, Rodney Lang and Don Lang; brothers-in-law, Fred Podewitz, Tony (Eva) Torres, Benito (Linda) Torres, Rick (Marlene) Torres, and Jesse (Daphney) Torres; sisters-in-law, Tomi Fickler and Jennifer Torres; as well as a host of extended relatives and close friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; brothers, Steve, Harry, Wesley, and Gerald Wengler; sister, Marcy Podewitz; and brother-in-law, Joe Torres.
