Ronald Thomas Kruse was born on September 24, 1937, in Hildreth to John and Rose (Casper) Kruse. He led a life of service and dedication. After graduating from Hildreth High School in 1955, Ron proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1956 to 1958. Upon returning home, he began his working career at Cadwell Manufacturing Company before transitioning to the Hildreth IGA store as a meat cutter and assistant manager.

Ron's entrepreneurial spirit led him to purchase the local drug store in 1963, which he renamed Kruse Sundries Store. In 1967, he began what would become a distinguished 35-year career as a financial advisor, earning multiple insurance service awards throughout his tenure.

Ron's commitment to his hometown was unwavering. He served Hildreth in numerous capacities: as a church council member and secretary, Hildreth High School board member and vice president, city mayor, and member of countless civic organizations including the American Legion (where he served as adjutant), Lions Club, fire department (as vice president), a committed member of his church, Trinity Lutheran in Hildreth, and Hildreth Community Club (as secretary). His passion for sports led him to coach both men's and women's fast-pitch softball teams.

Ron had a love story for the ages and his greatest joy was his 66-year love story with Sandra Fritson, his best friend and soulmate. Together, they raised three daughters: Julie, Judy, and Janel. Ron was a devoted family man who treasured every moment spent fishing, boating, golfing, and attending sporting events with his loved ones. Above all, he delighted in spoiling his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Left to cherish his memory, Ron is survived by his beloved wife, Sandra; daughters Julie (Doug) Ehlers of Minden, NE, Judy Danielson of York, NE, and Janel Sunderland of Omaha, NE; grandchildren Samantha (Chad) Bergstrom, Connor Johnson, Creed Ehlers, Drew (Kasey) Danielson, Ty Danielson, Bryce Danielson, Brady Danielson, Emily (fiancé Justin) Sunderland, and Megan Sunderland; step-grandchildren Derek (Julie) Ehlers and Jordan (Casey) Ohlrich; great-grandchildren Liam, Quinn, and Remi Bergstrom, and Kamrey and Kortlyn Danielson; step-great-grandchildren Violet and Myles Ehlers, and Edna Ohlrich; brother Tom (Deb) Kruse; sisters-in-law Ardie Kruse and Sheryl Kruse; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents, John and Rose; brothers Don, Gary, and Bruce; sister Janie; son-in-law Denny Danielson; and unborn infant grandson Isaac Danielson.

Ron's legacy of service, love, and community spirit will continue to inspire all who knew him. His memory will forever be treasured by the many lives he touched throughout his remarkable 87 years.
