Sandra "Sandy" J. Burritt, 81, of Minden, passed away on Tuesday, August 13, 2024 at Bryan Medical Center – West Campus in Lincoln. Funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 19, 2024 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Minden with Rev. Evan Winter officiating. The service will be streamed to the funeral home's Facebook page. Interment will be held later that day at 2:00 p.m. at the Upland Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 18, 2024 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with Rosary service at 6:00 p.m. Memorials in Sandy's honor are kindly suggested to the family for later designation. Arrangements are under the care of Craig Funeral Home in Minden.
Sandra Joyce (De Neve) Burritt was born on November 1, 1942, in Grinnell, Iowa, to Fred and Della (Coleman) De Neve. She grew up in Victor, Iowa, and graduated from HLV High School in Victor in 1960.
She was united in marriage to Richard E. Burritt on June 16, 1960, in Marengo, Iowa. They lived in Wyoming and Iowa before moving to Minden in 1961. In 1981, they moved to Upland, and then in 2021 Sandra moved back to Minden.
She enjoyed working for Ben Franklin, Jack & Jill, Mason's, and also First National Bank of Omaha in Kearney. Dick and Sandy also owned the Upland Bar for a few years.
She also enjoyed reading, doing puzzles, as well as watching the Royals and football. Mostly, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Richard D. Burritt and special friend Carol Homick of Cary, North Carolina; daughters, Kris (James) Gillespie of Minden, Della (Rick) Johnson of Minden, and Susan (Troy) Unzicker of Alliance; grandchildren, Rachelle (Chris) Blocher of Kearney, Steven (Abby) Lantis of Lincoln, Tyler Lantis of Cheyene, Wyoming, Devon (Joe) Kenton of Devil Lake, North Dakota, Brianna (Andrew) Litzel of Sundance, Wyoming, Tabitha Unzicker of Alliance; 11 great-grandchildren; sisters, Shirley Swails of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Mary (Terry) Starry of Solon, Iowa, and Linda (Gary) Beyer of Grinnell, Iowa; brothers, Dick (Barb) De Neve of Victor, Iowa, and Ed De Neve of Victor, Iowa; half-brother Lee Kimball of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; as well as a host of other family and friends.
She was proceeded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard; daughter, Cindy Lantis, and sister-in-law Maribeth De Neve.
