Sandra L. Johnson, 81, of Minden passed away peacefully at Bethany Home on Tuesday, August 27, 2024 with her family surrounded around her. Celebration of life services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 3, 2024 at Bethany Lutheran Church, 437 E. Fourth St., Minden, with the Rev. Don Hunzeker and PMA Julie Schmidt officiating. The service will be streamed to the church's YouTube page. Interment will be held following the service at the Minden Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Monday, September 2, 2024 at Craig Funeral Home in Minden. Memorials in Sandy's honor are kindly suggested to the family for later designation. Sandra "Sandy" L. Johnson was born on April 4, 1943, in Holdrege, NE, to William "Bill" and Etta (Soderquist) Popple. She was baptized and confirmed in Christ at Trinity Lutheran Church in Axtell. She graduated from Axtell High School in 1961.

On November 18, 1962, she was united in marriage to Jerry L. Johnson in Axtell. The couple made their home in Minden and lived in the same home for their 58 years of marriage.

Sandy worked at Kearney County Health Services in the housekeeping/laundry department for many years, retiring in 2008.

Sandy enjoyed watching her grandkids in sports and school events, a never-ending glass of sun tea, a good game of pitch and search-a-word books. She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Minden.

Survivors include her daughters, Jill Hinrichs of Hastings, Jodi (Randy) Sadd of Doniphan and son, Jeff (Loree) Johnson of Minden; grandchildren, Molly (Brian) Maronde, Morgan (Jake) Bachman, Jeremy Johnson and friend Kennedi, Mitch Hinrichs and friend Sophie, Jonathan Johnson and fiancé Taylor, Myles Sadd and Ridley Sadd; great-grandchildren, Emma and Brody Maronde, and Camden and Leni Bachman; sisters, Peg Soneson of St. Paul, Sue Roads of Minden, Vicki Erickson of Austin, TX; brothers, Frank (Margo) Popple of Gothenburg, Ed (Carol) Popple of Orleans; brothers and sisters-in-law, Lois Popple of Kearney, Johanna Popple of Alma, Maureen Popple of Hot Springs, SD, June Loschen of Alma, Janette (Jeff) Bier of Redstone, CO, Jack (Cheryl) Johnson of rural Upland, Joyce (Darrel) Albers of Kearney, and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, as well as many friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry in July 2021; her parents, William "Bill" and Etta Popple; parents-in-law, John and Selma Johnson; sister and brother-in-law, Herb and Colleen Warnken; brothers, Max Popple, Mike Popple, Brad Popple, Brian Popple and Brent Popple; brother and sisters-in-law, Don Roads, Bud Soneson, Doreen Johnson, and Gordon Loschen.
