Sharen C. Christensen, 87, of Sioux Falls, SD, formerly of Minden and Heartwell, passed away peacefully on January 16, 2024, at Bethany Lutheran Home in Sioux Falls, SD. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 22, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Minden, NE. The service will be streamed to the funeral home's Facebook page. Private family interment will be held at the Minden Cemetery prior to the service. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 21, 2024 at Craig Funeral Home in Minden with Rosary service at 6:00 p.m. Memorials in Sharen's honor are kindly suggested to a charity of the donor's choice or to the family for later designation. Arrangements are under the care of Craig Funeral Home in Minden.

Sharen C. Christensen was born on December 3, 1936, on her family farm just outside of Heartwell, NE to Lawrence and Gladys Joyce. Sharen was the third of six children and would often share stories with her family of her chore of milking cows before and after school and all the fun she had with her siblings growing up on the farm. Sharen started school at the Heartwell school house and then transitioned to Minden High School. This is where she met the love of her life, Buckley "Buck" Christensen. She and Buck were married on June 13, 1959, in Minden and together had three children. Sharen held various jobs in Minden, including Kearney County Clerks office, ASCS office, Pioneer Motors, Mason's Market, and the Kearney County Department of Roads.

During Sharen's life, she was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Heartwell, St. John's Catholic Church and PCCW, and the Auto Way bowling team. After living in Heartwell/Minden her whole life, Sharen made the hard decision in 2021 to leave Minden and move to Sioux Falls, SD to be with her immediate family. Sharen was often found with a baby on her lap, early on her favorites being her nieces and nephews and later turning into her own children, grand and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed playing card games, testing out the sweets, and spending as much time as she could with her family. Her infectious laugh, strong-willed demeanor, and outpouring of love will forever be remembered by everyone she met.

Sharen is survived by her daughter, Kristie (Michael) Mosher of Greeley, CO; son, Michael (fiancé LeAnn) Christensen of Sioux Falls, SD; five grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren: Jamie (Beth) Christensen, Cameron, Isaac and Baby Christensen of Kearney, NE; Tanner (Christi) Christensen, Brynlee and Brody of Webster, SD; Levi (Kira) Christensen, Connor and Riley of Sibley, IA; Mariah (fiancé Dale) Christensen, Sam, Noel and Maxwell of Leavenworth, KS; and AnnaLee (Brandon) Fedeler, Sawyer and Stetson of Colton, SD; as well as a host of extended relatives and close friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Buckley Christensen; son, Matthew Christensen; parents, Lawrence and Gladys Joyce; brothers, James and Patrick Joyce; sisters, Beverly Bates, Elizabeth Jean Fisher and Sally Joyce; sister-in-law, Irene Joyce; brothers-in-law, Bruce Christensen, Dwayne Bates and David Fisher; and father and mother-in-law, Arlo and Alberta Christensen.
